I CAN'T NOT MAKE GAMES.

I have enough lockerspace to hold an episode of Friends.

"We'll make a toast to absent friends and better days,
To remembering and being remembered as brave
And not as a bunch of whining jerks!

Don't lose your nerve.
Do not go straight
You must testify
(or I'm going to come to your house and punch you in the mouth)
cause CLOWNS MUST STAND."

- TW/IFS, "All The World Is A Stage Dive"
Iron Gaia
As the only human awake on board a space station controlled by an insane AI with delusions of deification, you must unravel the mystery of your own identity and discover: "What is the Iron Gaia?"

GET CRAFTING!

Finished all content on day 2.

@kumada: Howwwwwwwwww?

Also, I know about kiteing, I noticed it and used it while testplaying and intentionally left it in. : )

Progress

GET CRAFTING!

You can beat the monsters easily enough with partial leather and a quarterstaff, club, stone axe, flint shortspear, or a shortbow UNLESS you happen to get a triple-spider battle in which case...fuck. Even then, with potions and/or magic you should be able to win.

(And I am generally okay with...

1. RNG Does Something
2. Fuck!

As long as it isn't keeping everyone from playing the game. This one-two punch is something I've gotten very used to from playing tabletop RPGs/FFT.)

Anyway, I set the monsters to trigger on Action Key while you have repellent on so it should be impossible to trigger them accidentally by brushing up against them.

GET CRAFTING!

That's a good idea but yeah, I feel like just sleeping in your house (a few times) would kind of solve that problem.

I'm not sure just how far in advance of the deadline it's possible to finish. Surely not more than a couple of days?

EDIT: Monster repellent is in fact working on the first level of Bloodgully, but it is still possible to trigger battles if you run forward too incautiously and collide with them. I will consider changing the activation trigger to "Action Button" while the Repel Monsters switch is on. That should keep you from running into them faster than they can run away.

GET CRAFTING!

Hey Versalia, do you perchance know how to make Evasion work like I thought it already was? I know it's around line 821 of Game_Battler but I'm not sure what to put there and I am scared of breaking the game.

GET CRAFTING!

Kumada, Gourd, etc. thanks for all the halps so far.

Before I get the long slow grind toward more content started, I am gonna reupload the current demo with at least the following changes:

*Credits sped up.
*Added Quick-Start option.
*Pressing Escape on Trade Skills menu now returns you to the main menu.
*Harvests now display exact quantity when quantity >1.

Aww, 40 subscribers! I should send you all cookies.

I don't need cookies, send me subscribers. : )

GET CRAFTING!

Welp, 61+ posts. I must be doing something right. : )

GET CRAFTING!

I don't agree with the laziness=respect bit, but I'm hoping that point was more about the importance of finishing content and debugging before twiddling with minor design elements.

To keep it from being misunderstood, let me post that bit again with emphasis.

(and people should really RESPECT laziness as a design choice, because honestly if everyone always made every aspect of everything TOTALLY PERFECT, NO GAME WOULD EVER GET RELEASED)

Please do not mistake it for...

"people should really RESPECT laziness as a design choice because LAZINESS IS AWESOME WOOOO"

When it comes to important things to spend dev hours on, modifying scripts to tell me that I got one peony, two daisies, a poesy of roses, and some cockle-bells all in a row whenever I successfully pick a bunch of flowers does not seem like an important thing to allocate resources to when there is still content to develop. If this is something that can be universally edited, then it's best left for polishing.

If, however, this is something that would need to be edited separately into every patch of flowers...damn. My experience from testing is that, for me, adding quantities to every resource harvest would not appreciably change the gameplay experience. Changing every event to properly display the amount of resources acquired would mean a lot of work now, and even more work by the end of the project. For something that felt so cosmetic, I can't see this being a great investment of work-hours.

My eventing is really not that terrible that harvesting is not handled through common event calls. For what feels like the 40th time, adding quantity to each harvest event is easy and will be done.

GET CRAFTING!

@Versalia: I have mentioned several times that I don't have RPG Maker VX installed on this computer. I earnestly apologize for not having the RMVX Script Editor IN MY MIND like a psychic voodoo ninja. I'll work on that.

@Craze: Let me try and deal with your bullshit one point at a time.

2) You won't... tell people... how much... they got...? ...? ???D????!?!?!??

Telling you how much shit you got is not a bad idea, and it should be no problem

Q.E.D. You ridiculous ass.

Minor Concession: My writing style with something like a forum post is downright bizarre, and generally speaking the most verbose thing is not the most important. Nonetheless, my real response was the little clause in the beginning I just bolded and not the long parenthetical run-on that followed it.

This is honestly the exchange that we just had.

A: You should change X to Y.
B: Okay I will change X to Y.
C: YOU STUPID BASTARD WHY WON'T YOU CHANGE X TO Y!!!!!!!???????

C here stands for Craze, at his villainous worst.

(I only design for my own personal tastes/ideas and still expect GLORIOUS PRAISE AND MISAOS)"

I did actually get more Misaos when I gave less of a shit about good game design principles and player accessibility. I agree, it's fucking baffling. (Eldritch is about the most player-unfriendly, inaccessible, punishes-you-for-its-own-poorly-explained systems game you could possibly find. It has won Misaos. Misaos are just a goddamn popularity contest anyway, they have fuck-all to do with game design. Sorry bro, harsh truth.)

The better and more polished my games have objectively been, the less people have liked them. This is one of the greatest mysteries of my entire life. But that's fine. I don't want to get into it here.

3) If you're going to rip karsu and I off all the time anyway, you could at least take the chest/item-get common event out of Edifice instead of just the selection of publicly-available RTP battle sprites (or ask me where you could get them beyond Edifice/the Yanfly Engine, because yes, I have the whole set and they are for open use)

I got the RTP battle sprites from Yanfly Engine Melody, or from Pockethouse when it still existed, I can't remember. I didn't realize that you and Karsuman had made that. I don't want your shitty common events and I want your bullshit accusations even less. I have been eventing since before you were gay.

3b) The game isn't encrypted to protect resources, it's encrypted to prevent cheating which is a decision I have struggled with. I intend on stripping the encryption as soon as I get home not because CRAZE HAS SHOWN ME THE ERROR OF MY WAYS HALLELUIA but because the damn graphics folder being separate is too much of a pain in the ass.
